A TEMPORARY STATE OF GRACE

Arad Museum, Arad, Israel 1997

After investigating their potential in the studio, I bring materials to the museum and let the work slowly take shape in the space. I combine natural and synthetic materials. Different parts of the same plant may appear in separate works; rose petals are piled up, elsewhere the thorns wander along the wall. Materials appear in different states – chunks of charcoal are piled up in plastic trays, then used for a large wall drawing. Sunflower seed oil fills bubble wrap, and sunflower seeds create a fabric that hang on a line… all are in states of flux and disintegration.
