The work stems from and reflects the sense of anxiety over our current global situation –overdevelopment, overcrowding, over-density.
But the drawing is not only a recording of relentless growth, settlement, industry, roadways, intensive urbanization; it can also be read as a mapping of the complex interconnectivity of matter, technology, human communication- a dense tangled beautiful network.
One of the drawings (see 1/9) is documented as it progresses, from a sparsely inhabited landscape to a dense web of activity. A sequence of the stages comprises 50 separate images which can be shown as a slide show, or as a time-lapse video with sound.
